Responsibilities
- Works under direct supervision of a pharmacist, following standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Assists in orienting and training employees.
- Supports professional staff in triaging, processing, and delivering prescriptions to patients.
- Manages pharmacy inventory and third-party receivables.
- Performs duties of a Pharmacy Clerk as needed, including running the cash register and answering telephones.
- Learns and understands specific aspects of the pharmacy management system (e.g., reception and release to patient queues) and POS system; follows instructions and completes tasks with urgency.
- Ensures daily department standards are met.
- Focuses on quality, embracing Quality Assurance Policy & Procedures, patient care programs, and accuracy with cash and related controls.
- Demonstrates intermediate to advanced understanding of pharmacy technology, including product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow.
- Ensures every prescription is checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing to the patient.
- Assists in the initial submission and resubmission of all third-party claims.
- Manages inventory, including ordering, receiving, freshness, return to stocks, and cycle counting.
- Checks pharmacy inventory for outdates and processes all returns.
- Locates prescription files and other manual records from storage as needed.
- Prepares and files manual records for pharmacist signatures and review.
- Acts with integrity, complying with company standards, HIPAA, and all state and federal regulations.
- Performs all store clerk duties as needed.
- Completes all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Manages Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs and other patient-centered professional services.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher.
- Preferred: Hospital or retail pharmacy experience.
- Preferred: PTCB or other nationally recognized certification.
- Required for Vermont employees: Registered with the State of Vermont as a Pharmacy Technician.
Special Conditions of Employment
- Drug test required.
- Initial and continuous exclusion and sanction/disciplinary monitoring.
Pay
$17.00 - $19.75 an hour. The final offer will be determined after careful consideration of relevant skills, years of experience, and education.
