National Team Associate Athletic Trainer

This position serves as a full-time, on-site provider and manager of medical support for USA Boxing’s High Performance (HP) teams under the supervision of the National Team Athletic Trainer and High Performance Medical Director. The role involves close collaboration with high performance athletes, staff, coaches, medical committee, medical volunteers, and the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s Sports Medicine department.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high performance health care adhering to athletic training practice standards, including injury prevention, immediate care, examination, assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, organization, and administration.
- Provide patient care activities within scope of practice, professional licensure, and clinical competency, ensuring ethical and empathetic delivery.
- Collaborate and communicate with the National Team Athletic Trainer, HP Medical Director, HP Team Physicians, and HP staff regarding ongoing injuries and injury prevention strategies.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state privacy laws, as well as IOC, WADA, USADA, Safe Sport, and the Olympic Code.
- Refer to and accept referrals from medical team members, including physicians, chiropractors, sports psychologists, nutritionists, physical therapists, and USOPC Sports Performance staff.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the physical and mental health of Elite High Performance Squad and Youth High Performance Team members and training partners.
- Maintain compliance with medical and legal requirements for the state of employment and any other states where USA Boxing events occur.
- Act as USA Boxing’s primary representative for all anti-doping matters.
- Attend all training sessions at training camps to monitor athlete health and well-being.
- Travel extensively with USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Squad and Youth High Performance Team to provide medical support during domestic and international competitions.
- Assist athletes in scheduling appointments for orthopedic, dental, mental health, nutrition, physical therapy, and massage therapy as needed.
- Record and enter athlete medical data into the electronic medical record system in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update athlete profiles in the USOPC EMR.
- Collaborate with the National Team Athletic Trainer, HP Medical Director, HP Team Physicians, and USOPC Sports Performance Team to develop and implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
- Coordinate communication between athletes, coaching staff, HP Head Team Physicians, and personal coaches regarding injuries or medical concerns.
- Support the development and maintenance of medical Emergency Action Plans for all training venues and review with staff prior to each training camp or competition.
- Initiate insurance claims for injuries covered by USA Boxing and activate the USOPC Medical Network for necessary referrals.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all medical supplies in the USA Boxing gym and ensure medical kits and recovery bags are fully stocked for competitions and training camps.
- Collaborate on policy-making decisions related to sports medicine, including medical protocols for USA Boxing National Team operations.
- Assist in developing educational materials for USA Boxing coaching education platforms and engage in the USA Boxing Medical Symposium as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Athletic Training or another sports medicine field.
- Current Health Care Provider CPR certification.
- Licensure or certification in good standing as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Colorado (or ability to obtain).
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certification for CPR/AED; willingness to obtain instructor certification.
- Must meet US Olympic & Paralympic Training Center Credentialing Requirements, including:
- Continuous certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for at least three years.
- Ability to pass a background check, including professional credential review.
- No previous convictions of a felony or healthcare fraud.
- No previous actions, sanctions, or discipline related to sexual abuse, harassment, or substance abuse.
- Current USADA anti-doping training certification (biennial).
- Current Safe Sport certification (yearly).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in elite-level combat sports, NCAA, or professional sports.
- Previous high performance experience with a National Governing Body (NGB) or the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee preferred.

Pay
Starting salary: $60,000–$62,500.
Schedule
- Exempt, regular, full-time position.
- Significant overtime likely required during and leading up to major events.
- Non-traditional work hours depending on the high performance schedule.
- Travel required several times a year; some trips may last 3–4 weeks.
