National Lead Examiner Trainer
National Program Leadership
Own national examiner training program strategy, governance, execution, and alignment across all regions.
Maintain national training (and examiner-facing supportive) standards, in coordination with the MDE Director of Training, and the MDE Training Specialist, including curriculum governance and SOP development and adherence.
Ensure consistent, high-quality training implementation across diverse geographic regions.
Supervision & Workforce Management
Directly supervise Regional Lead Examiner Trainers, providing coaching, corrective action input, and leadership development.
Oversee examiner trainer staffing, workload distribution, timekeeping accuracy, leave management, and performance documentation.
Lead succession planning for Regional Lead Examiner Trainers.
Champion examiner trainer professional development programs/strategy.
Operations Oversight
Manage regional examiner training program priorities, trainer assignment, escalation triage, and training & examiner support implementation.
Drive national standardization to ensure examiner competency and alignment with clinical and operational goals.
Quality and Performance Governance
Review DBQs and collaborate with Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues and rejected DBQs.
Lead quality dashboard development, trend analysis, and programmatic performance improvement.
Govern QA escalation pathways and work with regions to implement improvement plans.
Oversee review of Error Citation Reports, track common quality errors, and incorporate lessons learned in LSGS Clinical and Training products and services.
Escalation Management
Serve as the final clinical-training escalation authority prior to Medical Director review.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Medical Director, Quality Assurance, Information Technology, Operations, and client-facing teams to ensure aligned communication and national consistency.
Hiring & Talent Management
Participate in ET (e.g., General Medicine, Psychology, Audiology) and Regional Lead hiring processes.
Own selection standards, interview frameworks, and talent development pathways for Regional Leads.
Technology / Systems Proficiency
Utilize multiple technological platforms, including MDE4VETS, AI-enabled/adopted technologies, DBQ logic, virtual training tools, analytics dashboards, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
Clinical Currency
Complete one ACE DBQ biannually to maintain clinical readiness and meet VBA training requirements.
Travel
Conduct national site visits, executive-level meetings, and training/conference/symposium engagements as approved by the Medical Director.
Travel up to 25%, and/or as needed to support on-site or in-person training, supportive, and operational needs.
Education and Experience
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), unrestricted and in good standing.
- Minimum 4 years of clinical experience conducting VA Compensation & Pension exams.
- 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare or clinical training capacity.
- Current BLS certification.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, ADA, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to deliver effective training and mentorship.
- Must pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
Preferred Requirements
- 5+ years of healthcare leadership or management experience, including 2+ years supervising subordinate leaders.
- Demonstrated experience in training program leadership, clinical operations, and workforce oversight.
- Master’s degree in MBA/MHA/MPA preferred due to national operations and oversight scope.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and serve as a national-level operational leader.
- Military background or familiarity with military culture.
- Skilled in data analysis, process improvement, and change management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
- Comprehensive knowledge of MDE national training standards, SOP governance, curriculum oversight, and Loyal Source protocols is essential.
- Advanced proficiency with MDE4VETS or C&P case management platforms, including expert-level capability in navigating AI-enabled workflows and applying conditional logic within Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
- Expertise in curriculum governance, developing and delivering training frameworks, and overseeing onboarding, remedial instruction, and advanced clinical-training programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, analytics platforms, virtual training environments, and national change-management execution is required, along with the ability to implement best practices uniformly across multiple regions and operational environments.
- Ability to supervise and guide the daily and strategic activities of Regional Lead Examiner Trainers, ensuring cohesive national operations and training alignment.
- Ability to serve as the organization’s senior subject matter authority for clinical-training, procedural guidance, and escalated examiner or trainer issues.
- Strong ability in managing national staffing considerations, workload distribution, timekeeping oversight, and workforce planning to ensure consistent regional coverage, compliance, and operational continuity across the entire program.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The National Lead Examiner Trainer holds overarching supervisory responsibility for the Regional Lead Examiner Trainers, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and leadership development across all regions. This role ensures consistent national execution of training standards by guiding Regional Leads in their daily oversight of Examiner Trainer activities, assignments, and performance expectations. The National Lead delivers coaching, mentorship, and structured performance feedback to Regional Leads and oversees their implementation of onboarding, remedial, and advanced training initiatives for Examiner Trainers and examiners. In this capacity, the National Lead ensures national alignment, equitable workload distribution, and cohesive professional development pathways across the entire examiner training workforce.
Work Environment/Condition
Remote-based with travel (25%), and as operationally required. Must be able to sit for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and work extensively on a computer screen. Physical Demands: Sit for extended periods of time, lift 25lbs, work extensively on a computer screen.
