Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the High Performance Staff in developing individual athlete training and competition plans for the Youth High Performance Team and/or High Performance Squad athletes and communicate plans to athletes and personal coaches.
- Assist the National Coaching Staff in overseeing athlete preparation, tapering and weight control, while providing technical coaching and mentoring to high performance athletes and their personal coaches.
- Serve as the head coach at all Youth HP Team camps and competitions and an assistant coach with HP Squad, upon request.
- Support the process of identification, selection and integration of High Performance Pool coaches into the High Performance program and conduct evaluations following each event with support of Staff.
- Aid in the upkeep and inventory of National Gym boxing equipment and communicate any needs to High Performance Coordinator.
- Assist with the development and implementation of national scouting initiatives to identify and recruit top prospects into the High Performance program.
- When appropriate, speak on behalf of USA Boxing to members of the media and sport community.
Qualifications
- Must be a USA Boxing certified coach, with USA Boxing Gold or Silver certification preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ coaching experience in the sport of boxing, with a minimum of 1 year’s experience within USA Boxing’s High Performance program or a proven track record of developing national champions in various age groups.
