Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Director of Commercial Sales, work with commercial team as well as all other sales teams in the promotion of commercial products, applications, installation, startup and commissioning of Navien equipment & ancillary items
- Conduct various levels and types of trainings, from sales to technical training programs involving Navien products, installation, troubleshooting and service throughout the region
- Use discretion and independent judgement to determine training objectives, assists in writing training programs, modifying training programs as needs arise, including outline, text, handouts, and tests, and design exercises where applicable
- Trains on safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of Navien products, and equipment directly related to Navien applications, following outline, handouts and texts
- Utilizing advanced knowledge and experience performs a variety of tasks, during non-training periods including, but are not limited to, field inspections, technical site visits and fielding phone calls from various sources
- Interact with internal departments and staff as necessary, such as Marketing, IT, Product Development, or the Sales Teams as necessary
- Work with staff and training attendees during and after classes. Including helping organize, attend, and support after class ends
- Document weekly responsibilities through required sales and training reports, expense reports, emails, and phone calls. Submit required documents, reports, or information within the required timeframes set forth by the company
- Coordinate with Commercial & Regional Sales managers regarding: Scheduling trainings, site visits and travel throughout the country, Tracking both training targets and sales objectives, and working with staff and reps to achieve those yearly goals
- Ensuring training objectives are met, including product or audience specific trainings
- Travel – this position involves extensive travel throughout the country, to trade shows or meetings, site visits, manufacturer rep locations– approximately 60% travel is typical
Requirements
- The commercial field specialist must be able to work in multiple roles: as the trainer, field support specialist, a sales coordinator, and the ambassador for Navien
- Position requires acceptable knowledge, expertise and application of in a related area and 10+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Ability to articulate problems and provide solutions concisely to all levels of customers: laborer, contractor, distributer, engineers and architects
- Strong presentation/public speaking skills and strong customer service skills
- Willingness and ability to speak with groups as large as 100+
- Sales experience and the ability to sell the product is an absolute requirement
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience and competence in using hand tools and test equipment relevant to the product and water heating/boiler industry
- Delivers and facilitates structured training and development programs and initiatives in support of Navien’s commercial products and programs to employees, manufacturer representatives and Navien’s customers
- Provides continual support of and feedback based upon field, sales, service and training observations
- Facilitate commercial training for newly hired and existing Navien employees and associates on commercial applications, operations and best practices
- Provide regular documentation following team standards on installs, training, site visits and normal work requirements as requested and needed
- Update and develop training material to meet the needs of Navien’s commercial department
Preferred Qualifications
- Navien-specific Tankless, Boiler and commercial application installation and training experience
- Experience in advanced hydronics, with an emphasis on new technologies and control strategies. Design experience in hydronic systems is additionally beneficial
- Knowledge and understanding of the manufacturer - manufacturer rep – distributor - contractor sales model and process, and each of their roles in that relationship
- Acts as subject matter expert for Navien and best practices of installs in compliance with manufacturers’ recommendation
- Possess the familiarity of the mechanical room and its components to ensure proper installation of the Navien product
- Conduct site visits with installing contractor, manufacturers’ rep
- Have the ability to assess installations of product to include but not limited to: Static gas pressure, Dynamic gas pressure, Supply voltages, Amp draws, Combustion analyzation, Proper assessment of venting system, Assess infrastructure piping (supply, return, cold water piping, gas piping, and vent installations)
