National Aftermarket Service Manager

About the role

Manages the Aftermarket Service team in support of repair opportunities at customer's facilities and supports Aftermarket Operations in SMA facilities.

Essential functions

  • Develop and implement programs for the operation and continuous improvement of the Aftermarket repair concept
  • Develop implement and manages initiatives to provide repair services for competitor gearboxes
  • Interact with customers and various SMA staff/resources as needed to ensure satisfactory resolution of escalated customer concerns/issues
  • Partner with SMA Aftermarket National Sales Managers in cultivating and maintaining relationships with current and prospective customers
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to include local technical training and job scope procedures
  • Manage and coordinate SMA Service team work schedules, to include emergency field service assignments
  • Generate and maintain Service reports for Aftermarket activities
  • Lead and assist in planning projects of varying scope and duration to accommodate changes in business strategy, customer requirements and unforeseen contingencies
  • Apply comprehensive technical knowledge and management experience to analyze and resolve complex work problems, or assist other employees in problem solving
  • Provide technical assistance in the repair evaluation process
  • Assist employees in determining solutions to enhance the Service offering to customers
  • Manage the Safety sites required for remote work
  • Lead the Service team to support Contractual Storage and Maintenance agreements in-house
  • Other duties as assigned by International Aftermarket Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related Service discipline
  • Previous management experience of a service group and/or industrial type repair facility
  • A working knowledge of the operating characteristics of rotating machinery
  • Ability to collect and analyze data, produce databases and write reports
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, team-building and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to travel (30%)

Work environment

  • Duties are performed in an industrial environment
  • While performing duties, constantly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; twist; bend; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently required to walk
  • Must constantly lift, carry, move, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
  • May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud

Pay

Salary rate starting at $106,000; increase based on experience
