Responsibilities
- Providing daily/weekly touches to client contacts via phone, email, etc. to solicit opportunities.
- Actively accepting tenders, managing spot opportunities.
- Ensuring that day-to-day activities of assigned team meet the needs of the customer.
- Monitoring overall service levels/metrics for assigned customers.
- Guiding assigned employees and ensuring they have adequate training and development.
- Working with Rate Department and Margin Department to develop shipper/carrier rates.
- Participating in customer service account reviews with assigned accounts, including metrics reporting as requested.
- Developing strategies to achieve market share goals for assigned accounts.
- Ensuring the profit objectives for the accounts are satisfied.
- Networking within assigned accounts to build relationships with new contacts and identify growth opportunities.
- Working with Capacity Managers to identify lanes that require carrier recruitment.
- Working with other Account Managers to create packages of lanes that will keep carriers within the PLS network.
- Owning the relationship and performing all necessary tasks to make the clients/division profitable and successful.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong negotiating skills
- Knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry
