About the Role

A welcoming international family in Fort Greene is seeking an experienced, professional nanny to support their two delightful young children. This long-term opportunity offers the chance to work in a calm, well-organized household that truly values exceptional caregivers.

Schedule

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Thursday: 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week
• Occasional flexibility for later evenings or extended days as needed

Start Date: As soon as the right candidate is found.

The Children

• 20-month-old girl: Happy, resilient, smiley, and easygoing. She sleeps well at night and happily takes one nap during the day. She enjoys following her older sibling's lead and is beginning to explore new activities and social experiences. In January, she will begin a twos afternoon program.
• 4-year-old boy: Active, energetic, friendly, and social. He loves outdoor play, sports, and engaging activities. He feels deeply and can find separation and transitions challenging, so a nurturing and confident caregiver who provides consistency and structure will be important. He is preparing to start Pre-K and will be taking the school bus.

The Family

They appreciate close attention to detail, healthy living, open communication, and a calm disposition. One parent works from a home office, while the other is actively involved in daily family life. The home is organized, calm, and well-supported by a full-time housekeeper, allowing the nanny to focus primarily on the children's needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan engaging, screen-free activities, outings, and playdates.
• Encourage development through reading, storytelling, arts and crafts, and year-round outdoor play.
• Prepare nutritious meals during nap time, provide healthy snacks, and pack school lunches.
• Support schedules, routines, school pick-ups, and activities.
• Oversee bath time, grooming, nail trimming, hair braiding, and eventually toilet training.
• Organize the children's clothing, toys, belongings, and personal spaces, including occasional personal shopping for child-related items.
• Confidently navigate New York City streets and public transportation.
• Maintain excellent safety standards at all times.
• Be physically active and able to confidently carry a toddler while navigating multiple flights of stairs in a five-story townhouse.
• Swimming is required. Driving is not required.
• Occasional domestic travel may arise, though regular international travel is not expected.

Requirements

• Professional in both presentation and knowledge of child development.
• Warm, patient, reliable, energetic, organized, and invested in your profession.
• Proactive, safety-conscious, emotionally aware, and able to balance structure with fun and learning.
• Experience working in staffed private homes with fine furnishings and collections is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NYC navigation and public transportation is required.
• CPR and First Aid certification are required.
• Full-range vaccinations and excellent judgment are required.
• Take pride in maintaining high standards while contributing positively to a harmonious household.

Pay
