NACE/CIP Level 3 Certified Coating Inspectors
Major Responsibilities/Activities
Witness all coating activities including, but not limited to, surface preparation, application of approved coatings, holiday detector testing and final coating thickness.
Document all inspection activities, including material usage and waste.
Maintain daily records to support documentation of coating activities.
Ensure all coatings, including above-ground piping, are in accordance with contract specifications and manufacturers recommendations.
Ensure compliance with all project specific environmental requirements.
Be familiar with the industry specifications such as National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), the Steel Structures Painting Council (SSPC), and others as may be referenced in specifications and procedures.
Comply with safety standards as outlined in the company’s Health and Safety Handbook and those prescribed by the job site.
Collect the required Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) information for the coating and paint systems being applied and ensure this information is available to all appropriate site personnel.
Ensure coating and painting processes are performed safely, utilizing proper equipment.
Inform management/supervisor immediately of any safety or construction deviation or any problems and/or anticipated problems.
Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Current Certification NACE III Coating Inspector
- Ability to clearly communicate to other team members
- Ability to write clearly and concisely to prepare reports and correspondence
- Skilled with MS Office suite
- Strong attention to details
Essential Physical Functions
- Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
