About the role
This position ensures compliance with safety work rules and reinforces safety as a core value. You will uphold all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality to reduce product and process variability.
Responsibilities
- Assume personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health into all tasks.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Maintain sanitary conditions and ensure product quality is upheld.
- Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
- Operate, clean, perform preventive maintenance (PM), and troubleshoot extended run fillers (e.g., Elopack Fillers/Cappers, Scholle (AF/19), Tote Filler, Hamba).
- Follow all SOPs for production and sanitation.
- Accurately maintain all required documentation in real time.
- Proactively plan and lead changeover activities for fillers and date coding, coordinating resources (mechanics, materials) and communications with supervisors.
- Alert supervisors when mechanical problems occur.
- Ensure GMP and sanitation practices are maintained, leading all related room activities.
- Maintain a safe work environment and meet line S-Max targets and material shrinkage goals.
- Communicate actively with ESL Pasteurizer operators to ensure efficient operations.
- Engage in continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- 2+ years of experience operating machinery, handling GMPs, and adhering to product specifications.
- Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) for weight control.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with other employees.
- Ability to read and follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Basic computer skills for operating equipment controls.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Wear proper PPE, including hair nets, ear plugs, and earmuffs in designated areas.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level.
- Frequent walking and standing for extended periods.
- Work indoors in wet, humid environments on hard surfaces.
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
Pay
$20.20 to $25.50 per hour.
