MWR Custodial Worker (Bowling)

About the role

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department at Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI), Coronado, CA. The primary purpose is to perform a variety of semi-skilled labor and cleaning tasks at Sea N Air Lanes.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial type) powered scrubbers and buffers.
• Vacuum cleans rugs using heavy (industrial type) vacuum cleaners.
• Adjusts, cleans, and oils machines; changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments.
• Washes and replaces venetian blinds, changes light bulbs, and washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds.
• Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment.
• Keeps restrooms clean, orderly, and sanitary; cleans, disinfects, and maintains woodwork.
• Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap in restrooms.
• Maintains stock of cleaning materials and equipment; notifies supervisor when supplies are needed.
• Cleans showers, sauna, and steam room.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check; discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
• Must meet federal suitability requirements, including successful completion of a background investigation.
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs and follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects.
• Ability to use powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
• Ability to learn Material Safety Data Sheets.
