About the role
This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department at Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI), Coronado, CA. The primary purpose is to perform a variety of semi-skilled labor and cleaning tasks at Sea N Air Lanes.
Responsibilities
- Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial type) powered scrubbers and buffers.
- Vacuum cleans rugs using heavy (industrial type) vacuum cleaners.
- Adjusts, cleans, and oils machines; changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments.
- Washes and replaces venetian blinds, changes light bulbs, and washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds.
- Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment.
- Keeps restrooms clean, orderly, and sanitary; cleans, disinfects, and maintains woodwork.
- Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap in restrooms.
- Maintains stock of cleaning materials and equipment; notifies supervisor when supplies are needed.
- Cleans showers, sauna, and steam room.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check; discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must meet federal suitability requirements, including successful completion of a background investigation.
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects.
- Ability to use powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
- Ability to learn Material Safety Data Sheets.
