MWR Custodial Worker
About the role
This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department in the Navy Region Southwest Naval Base Coronado. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled labor and cleaning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using heavy (industrial type) powered scrubbers and buffers.
- Vacuum clean rugs using heavy (industrial type) vacuum cleaner.
- Adjust, clean, and oil machines, and change brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them.
- Wash and replace venetian blinds, change light bulbs, and wash ceiling fixtures and room partitions, using ladders and scaffolds.
- Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment.
- Keeps restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.
- Cleans, disinfects, and woodwork.
- Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
- Maintains stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when more are needed.
- Cleans showers, sauna, and steam room.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions.
Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects.
Ability to use powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
Ability to learn Material Safety Data Sheets.

Pay
$18.66 - $20.22 per hour
Schedule
Intermittent - 0-40 hours per week
