Mutyala Family Endowed Professorship in Cancer Prevention and Population Health – Clinical Associate or Full Professor

About the role

The Department of Health Systems and Population Health Sciences at the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine invites applications for an endowed professor in cancer prevention. This position also includes an appointment as a Clinical Faculty member within the Humana Integrated Health System Sciences Institute.

Responsibilities

• Research: Supervising and executing relevant aspects of research projects, including question formulation, study design, study implementation, data analysis, and dissemination of results.
• Securing Extramural Funding: Building partnerships with researchers and organizations focused on cancer prevention, care, and outcomes.
• Education: Developing and teaching relevant sessions within the medical school curriculum, including quality improvement, population health, participatory methods, cancer epidemiology, and research design.
• Clinical (if applicable): Evaluating and treating patients, maintaining an electronic medical record of encounters, diagnostic studies, and referrals, and participating in interdisciplinary team-based care.
• Service: Participating in service activities that are important to the research, curriculum, accreditation, students, and faculty of the College.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in a relevant field such as public health, implementation science, health services research, or behavioral and social sciences, with a focus on cancer prevention, control, or outcomes. Evidence of scholarly productivity, teaching experience, and track record of extramural funding as a principal investigator.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with building partnerships across disciplines in pursuit of educational or research objectives, experience with cross-disciplinary teaching in an integrated medical curriculum, experience teaching health professions students, experience with student mentoring and advising.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in a relevant field such as public health, implementation science, health services research, or behavioral and social sciences, with a focus on cancer prevention, control, or outcomes.
• Evidence of scholarly productivity, teaching experience, and track record of extramural funding as a principal investigator.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
