About the role

The Muslim Chaplain provides and supervises Muslim religious activities for the prison incarcerated person population. Directs the work of two incarcerated person workers. Completes timecards on incarcerated person office workers. Checks all incarcerated people work for accuracy and completeness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a minimum of 2 incarcerated-person workers, who substantially replace civil service employees for a combined total of at least 173 hours per month.
• Attach a letter to the monthly CDCR 998-A, Employee Attendance Record certified by your supervisor to the Personnel Office to receive Incarcerated Person Pay.
• Contact the Incarcerated Person Assignments Office to assign incarcerated persons if the criteria is not met.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements include completion of educational courses as specified in the Class Specification and a certification of good standing.

Qualifications

Must have a willingness to create and promote an inclusive workplace that empowers employees from a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and personal experiences. Knowledge of factors involved in the development of behavior problems, including a knowledge of mental disorders and principles of mental hygiene; purposes of mental and correctional institutions; methods of rehabilitation.

Skills

Organize, prepare, and conduct Islamic religious services and courses on ethics, religion, and sacred music; counsel institution residents and their families on moral and ethical problems; establish rapport with institution residents; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

Pay

$5,743.00 - $7,541.00 per Month

Schedule

This is a 12 month Limited Term position that may be extended to 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
