Music Therapist - Hospice

About the role

As a Music Therapist, you will provide patients with comprehensive clinical therapy services designed to help them meet individual goals and enhance their well-being. You will make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families by offering a creative outlet for various mental and physical health ailments. This position works 8:30am to 5:00pm in the field, traveling throughout the Greater Cleveland and Akron/Canton areas to deliver care directly to patients in their homes.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate Music Therapy interventions to address the biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and families.
• Serve as a clinical and educational resource for hospital units and the professional community regarding music therapy practice.
• Assist and participate in research as needed, including developing research topics and protocols, conducting research, gathering results, and assisting in articles for submission.
• Assist the Music Therapy Department in developing and evaluating music therapy programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate therapy observation experiences, write reports, and collaborate on other projects as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a program accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
• Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) through the state licensing board.
• Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
• One year of experience providing music therapy services (consideration given for practicum or internship time).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of experience providing Music Therapy in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Master's Degree.

Physical Requirements

• Standing and walking at least 75% of the time; sitting less than 25% of the time.
• Hand and finger dexterity and reaching with arms and hands at least 75% of the time.
• Close vision and depth perception at least 75% of the time.
• Hearing and talking more than 80% of the time.
• Pushing and pulling at least 75% of the time.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay

Annual salary range for new hires: $43,200.00 – $65,880.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices such as shift differentials or overtime, nor does it include the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
