About the Role
The Music Therapist provides specialized music therapy to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of patients.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients' therapeutic status and develop individualized care plans
- Direct music therapy treatments and identify priority needs
- Report patient responses to physicians
- Initiate therapy programs and instruct staff and family members
- Prepare progress summaries
- Consult with families and caregivers
- Conduct in-service education for staff
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams
- Engage in quality and performance improvement activities
Requirements
- Baccalaureate or master's degree in music therapy from an accredited organization
- State certification in music therapy
- At least two years of experience (preferably in hospice/community settings)
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license with insured vehicle
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and focus on comfort care
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
