Music Teacher - Elementary/Middle (NY) SY26-27

Position Overview

Excellence Community Schools is seeking a passionate, patient, quick-thinking, & innovative Music Teacher. This position currently includes responsibility for classroom music for Elementary or Middle School. Experience in a classroom music setting engaging all children is desired.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction in music in a variety of settings & uses effective instructional techniques tailored to individual student’s goals and objectives
• Provides instruction and support in the area of music education
• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
• Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
• Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• New York State Teaching Certification in Education/Music Grades 1-6 or Middle School preferred
• A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in music education, working with children, and providing music instruction in an urban school setting is required
• Passionate about teaching music and enforcing the learning of music concepts required
• Have educational and/or professional training in developing and implementing a music education program for children

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: ($60,271- $148,412). Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications
