Music Teacher (26-27 SY)

The primary purpose of this role is to provide students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that will enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Arriving at school 15 minutes before carpool and being available for assigned duties or set-up
• Staying at school until time designated by School Director/Managing Director or as business necessitates
• Participating in school-wide and individual professional development, including the 2-3 week summer session
• Attending and participating in all staff meetings
• Performing necessary duties including but not limited to bus, morning, lunch, and afternoon duties
• Chaperoning field lessons and field trips
• Abiding by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect
• Upholding the code of conduct and all school policies
• Maintaining and supporting a positive professional school culture
• Modeling behavior within the code of conduct
• Supporting and following directives of campus administrators
• Providing clerical, instructional, and behavioral support for scholars as needed
• Enrolling in and completing all Texas Reading Academies Training

Team and Classroom Responsibilities

In addition to the above responsibilities, this role will also:

• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to plan and align and integrate curricula
• Attend all grade level meetings and work with grade level to address and resolve student issues
• Create rigorous and engaging long-term, quarterly, weekly, daily, and lesson specific lesson plans
• Set clear short-term and long-term goals to drive instruction
• Maintain a productive, safe, and focused learning environment
• Consistently enforce Uplift Education's core mission and values
• Create and provide meaningful and frequent assessments in a timely manner
• Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for growth and success of all students
• Effectively teach the adopted curriculum, the Uplift curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate components
• Keep parents well-informed about students' progress, providing frequent feedback in accordance with campus guidelines, weekly assessments, and quarterly report cards

Qualifications

The qualifications for this role include:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited college or university required, Master's Degree preferred but not required
• Previous teaching experience a plus
• Valid Texas Teacher Certification or enrollment in an Uplift designated certification course
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
• Ability to use basic office equipment and learn and use other software as necessary
• Bilingual skills, specifically Spanish speaking, a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands of this role include:

• Maintaining emotional control under stress
• Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
• Sitting and talking or hearing for extended periods
• Using hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
• Standing, walking, and using stairs frequently
• Lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds occasionally
• Close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

The work environment may include a low to high noise level, frequent interruptions, and activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.

Pay

The new teacher starting salary for this role is $63,000.
