Music Teacher 26-27

About the role

The K-8 Music teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing high quality instruction to all students in their content area. He or she will use a variety of methodologies and curriculum resources to ensure that all students meet grade level content expectations.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning, respectful behavior, and a sense of community among students.
• Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
• Regularly assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
• Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to the school's positive and collaborative culture.
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians through regular updates, conferences, and involvement in school events.
• Stay informed about current educational trends, participate in professional development opportunities, and continuously seek ways to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
• Actively participate in the Teaching and Learning Cycle which requires analyzing data, completing action plans, delivering re-teach lessons and reflecting on the instructional learning cycle;
• Contribute to a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability;
• Adhere to the District’s and School’s policies, expectations, and protocols as outlined in the District’s Policies and Procedures Manual and School’s Procedures Manual.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Endorsement for desired content area (JQ or JX)
• Previous experience teaching elementary school students strongly preferred

• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the Google Suite
