Position Overview
Excellence Community Schools is seeking a passionate, patient, quick-thinking, & innovative Music Teacher. This position currently includes responsibility for classroom music for Elementary or Middle School. Experience in a classroom music setting engaging all children is desired.
Responsibilities
- Provides instruction in music in a variety of settings & uses effective instructional techniques tailored to individual student’s goals and objectives
- Provides instruction and support in the area of music education
- Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards
- Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
- Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
- Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
- Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Connecticut State Teaching Certification in Education/Music Grades 1-6 or Middle School required
- A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in music education, working with children, and providing music instruction in an urban school setting is required
- Passionate about teaching music and enforcing the learning of music concepts required
- Have educational and/or professional training in developing and implementing a music education program for children
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: ($53,235- $118,163). Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications
