Music Instructor

Location: Various locations throughout Massachusetts

Hours: Vary depending upon schedule of location, maximum 8 hours/week

Exemption: Non-exempt

Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour (expected hiring rate around $20.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications)

Responsibilities

• Serve as a music instructor for The Salvation Army Divisional Music Department in Massachusetts
• Travel to assigned Salvation Army corps in Massachusetts to teach and lead music classes, as well as group and private music lessons
• Work with the Divisional Music Director and Salvation Army officer(s) to promote and plan local music events for assigned corps, including helping local leaders plan programs, advertising music programs to the public, and implementing special events like concerts and recitals
• Prepare musicians for seasonal performances during Christmas and Easter
• Encourage and help prepare musicians to participate in Divisional music programs like Youth Arts Ministry, Star Search, and Music Conservatory
• Communicate all problems or concerns to the Divisional Music Director
• Remain current with KeepSAfe training
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma

Work Experience

• Experience leading and teaching a music discipline
• Musical experience or expertise in one or more of the following music disciplines: brass, vocal, guitar, piano

Other Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must have personal transportation
• Must have the ability to work and relate well with people
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
• Must be available to work weeknights and weekends
