Museum Gift Shop Clerk
About the role
The Peel Compton Foundation is looking for a Museum Gift Shop Clerk at the Peel Museum & Botanical Garden. This is a part-time position based in the historic Andy Lynch Log Cabin, reporting directly to the Museum Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to museum visitors and store customers
- Greet museum visitors and capture their information before tours
- Perform open and closing duties for the store and other areas of the property
- Monitor inventory levels and product expiration, along with general merchandising ensuring that products are displayed appropriately and are attractive to customers
- Price and stock new inventory in a timely manner
- Ensure the store is clean and inviting to customers
- Meet monthly sales goals
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a retail environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Works well independently and with light supervision
- Experience using POS and inventory management software
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
- Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
- Must be able to work some weekends and occasional holidays
