GIFT SHOP CLERK
About the role
Under the direction of the Gift Shop Manager, the Gift Shop Clerk is responsible for day-to-day activities of the Gift Shop, including cash and credit card retail sales transactions using TAM cash register and reconciliation of daily receipts. Responsibilities include opening and closing the gift shop, managing customer requests and complaints, ordering flowers, preparing carnation bud vases and bows, supporting volunteer operations, providing excellent customer service, assisting with merchandise control and display, gift wrapping items, maintaining cleanliness and neatness of the Gift Shop and stockroom, pricing merchandise, replenishing stock, attending workshops and department meetings, collaborating on special team projects, and answering incoming phone calls to complete phone orders and deliver to the information desk.
Responsibilities
- Perform cash and credit card retail sales transactions using TAM cash register and reconcile daily receipts.
- Open and close the gift shop as necessary.
- Manage customer requests and complaints in a fast and courteous manner.
- Order flowers and prepare carnation bud vases and bows for display in the flower cooler.
- Support volunteer operations and provide excellent customer service.
- Assist with merchandise control, display, pricing, and replenishment as needed.
- Gift wrap items upon request.
- Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the Gift Shop and stockroom.
- Attend workshops, department meetings, and collaborate on special team projects.
- Answer incoming phone calls, complete phone orders, and deliver to the information desk.
- Proficiently use the TAM POS (Point of Sale) cash register.
- Maintain customer satisfaction by displaying exceptional customer service at all times.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Five years of retail experience preferred.

- Must be mature and demonstrate good judgment.
- Must communicate effectively.
- Must be honest and trustworthy.
- Must present a professional image.
- Competent in use of cash register.
