About the role

MUNICIPAL WORKER (SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER)

  • Grounds maintenance duties include mowing lawns; trimming shrubs by hand; removing weeds; picking up litter; and collecting trash.
  • Performs manual landscaping work, such as installing trail ties and loading/unloading fertilizer and mulch.
  • Assists with park building maintenance and cleaning, including sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Supports special events by loading/unloading materials and setting up and breaking down tables and chairs.
  • Completes other park maintenance tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Bending, stretching, heavy lifting, and some strenuous labor may be required.
  • Work performed on or around the City's public greenspace, facilities, and park areas.
  • May work with volunteers and answer general work questions from the public.
  • Operates mechanized equipment and hand tools with or without supervision.
  • Erects and makes minor repairs to the playground/park equipment.
  • Maintains grounds, walkways, and parking lots.
  • Clean shelters and open facilities for approved groups.
  • Lock facilities after use, safeguard, property, and equipment.
  • Clean snow from walks, steps, and driveways.
  • Drive a pickup truck and utility cart.
  • Cut and care for grass and shrubbery and remove debris.
  • Aid in tree removal.
  • Clean floors, walls, and equipment; load, unload, and transfer material.
  • Clean walls, windows, blinds, and drapes and change light bulbs.
  • Use hand and power tools to break and remove paving and concrete materials.
  • Operate equipment such as weed eaters, riding mowers, hand blowers, and walk-behind blowers.
  • Move furniture, load and unload material and supplies from trucks.
  • Ability to lift at least 60 lbs bags.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, or 17 years old with High School Diploma or GED.
  • Provide own transportation.
  • Requires valid Driver's License.
  • Must be physically fit, able to do "heavy" to "very heavy" physical work.

Qualifications

  • Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.

Skills

  • Ability to lift at least 60 lbs bags.

Pay
