Municipal Team Lead

About the Role

The Team Lead is a key leader within the Municipal Group, providing day-to-day guidance, support, and leadership to a talented team of professionals. In partnership with the Municipal Group Leader, this role helps drive team success through employee supervision, mentoring, performance management, and administrative leadership while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. The Team Lead also serves as the Technical Project Lead on a variety of municipal projects, combining technical expertise with leadership to develop team members, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Municipal Group.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the day-to-day operations of assigned employees, offering guidance, technical expertise, and mentorship.
• Provides frequent and candid coaching, performance feedback, and mentorship to the assigned group.
• Serves as Lead Engineer/Technical Project Lead, as needed.
• Monitors and balances team workload.
• Ensures adherence to all company standards and practice design/production standards, procedures, and policies.
• Helps build project teams by assigning group production employees/resources to project managers.
• Monitors team performance to ensure adherence to scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Ensures accuracy of deliverables by adhering to all QA/QC procedures for all work products developed in their group.
• Collaborates with production employees to develop efficient and effective design solutions.
• Identifies and coordinates with the Group Leader and Practice Leader on training needs and budget to ensure proper training of assigned employees.
• Makes recommendations to Group Leader or Senior Group Leader regarding utilization goals, design programs/tools, staffing adjustments, training needs, and budgets.
• Monitors and maintains utilization goals.
• Maintains regular communication with Group Leader or Senior Group Leader.
• Participates in the RFP/RFQ process including site visits, client meetings, scope development, preparation of project approach, technical execution plans, schedules, and interviews.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Five years of experience in their practice area.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State where the office is located or ability to obtain within six months, as applicable.
• Complete and thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering as it relates to their practice area.
• Possess a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.
