Pay

  • Level 1: Estimated base pay $21.15 - $27.40 plus overtime
  • Level 2: Estimated base pay $24.04 - $31.25 plus overtime
  • Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data

Schedule

  • Weekends 1st shift: Friday–Sunday, 3:00 AM–3:30 AM
  • Mandatory training for first 2 weeks: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Training starting week 3: Friday–Sunday, 3:00 AM–3:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic setup and operate multiple CNC or manual (lathes/milling/Swiss/grinding-OD/ID) machines to produce precision metal parts according to specifications.
  • Perform supporting operations (e.g., manual material removal, sub-assembly) while following established procedures.
  • Perform 1st piece inspections and train in these processes as required.
  • Follow detailed work instructions to maintain production efficiency and accuracy; interpret engineering blueprints and basic GD&T.
  • Use various gages to inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards; record and maintain data per operating standards (SOP).
  • Proactively apply 5S principles, improve workstation organization and cleanliness, and ensure compliance with team standards.
  • Assist in implementing new organizational practices as directed.
  • Encourage adherence to safety protocols within the team.

Skills

  • Technical Operation: Skilled in operating multiple CNC or manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, Swiss, and OD/ID grinders; proficient in supporting operations.
  • Critical Thinking: Identify gaps-to-standard and resolve or escalate them per standard processes; analyze problems, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions with minimal supervision.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Solid understanding of mechanical systems and components; ability to use inspection gaging and hand/power tools.
  • Team Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support workflow and escalate immediate issues; demonstrate Woodward’s core values.
  • Time Management: Proactively prioritize time to complete assigned tasks within established schedules; drive to maintain efficiency standards.
  • Lean Mindset: Follow lean practices such as 5S and waste reduction; participate in continuous improvement activities; identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
  • Production Systems: Understand and adhere to standardized work; escalate when it cannot be followed; actively participate in the daily management system.
  • Computer Skills: Use basic software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, data entry tools) to complete tasks.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure precision in tasks to maintain high quality standards; follow instructions precisely and check work for accuracy.
  • Collaboration: Work cooperatively with team members to support overall team objectives and workflow; accept feedback and collaborate across teams.

Requirements

  • Previous machine operation experience
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills (email, data entry, etc.)
  • Knowledge and ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Previous inspection experience
  • Moderate physical activity requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or bending; lifting or moving objects
  • Work performed in an area with moderate risk or discomfort; may require special safety precautions such as wearing protective clothing or gear
  • May be required to pass near vision and/or color vision examinations
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or Commerce
