Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Lake Pointe in Rowlett, TX is a community-based hospital with all the benefits of an urban medical center due to the specialties offered. The facility has a large outpatient footprint including physical medicine, wound care, sleep center, imaging, and two free-standing Emergency Departments serving Rowlett, Forney, Wylie, and surrounding areas. Licensed for 176 beds, the hospital includes medical-surgical units, ICU, Labor & Delivery, New Family Unit, Antepartum, NICU, Surgical Services, Cardiac Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and Emergency Department. Designations include Level III Trauma, Chest Pain Accreditation, Primary Stroke Accreditation, Maternal, and Level III NICU. Nursing is pursuing Pathways to Excellence and will seek Magnet designation upon completion.

Schedule

• PRN (variable)
• Day shift: 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
• Mid shift: 12:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m.
• Night shift: 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Weekend coverage varies by shift.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality multimodality imaging procedures according to exam protocol promptly, maintaining production and quality standards.
• Demonstrates expertise in radiation dose reference levels; takes action if estimated dose exceeds set levels, including patient follow-up.
• Uses iSTAT point-of-care testing for creatinine levels.
• Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients, ensuring the correct exam is performed on the correct patient; establishes rapport and assesses patient tolerance for the exam.
• Prepares patients and procedure areas, positions patients, uses immobilization devices, and sets appropriate exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies; uses sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
• Maintains equipment and work areas to meet quality and cleanliness standards; collaborates with engineers and physicists for optimal equipment operation and reports issues.
• Obtains, verifies, and maintains relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, pregnancy status, and policies.
• Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems per department policies.
• Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, and addressing patient satisfaction scores with action plans.
• Demonstrates current knowledge and skills for all age groups through continued education.
• Serves as a preceptor by training new team members and educating current teams on new services and initiatives.
• Takes call if required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program
• 1 year of experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer
• Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT), unless the role is MRI or Ultrasound
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in two imaging modalities, with at least 50% of work in the second modality. Approved modalities include:
