About the facility

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Lake Pointe in Rowlett, TX is a community-based hospital with all the benefits of an urban medical center due to the specialties offered. The facility has a large footprint of outpatient services including physical medicine, wound care, sleep center, imaging, and two free-standing Emergency Departments serving Rowlett, Forney, Wylie, and surrounding communities.

Lake Pointe is licensed for 176 beds and includes:

• Three medical-surgical units
• Intensive care unit
• Labor & Delivery, New Family Unit, Antepartum
• Neonatal Intensive Care
• Surgical Services
• Cardiac Cath Lab
• Endoscopy
• Interventional Radiology
• Emergency Department

The hospital holds multiple designations: Level III Trauma, Chest Pain Accreditation, Primary Stroke Accreditation, Maternal, and Level III NICU. Nursing is on the journey toward Pathways to Excellence and will seek Magnet designation upon completion.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality multimodality procedures according to exam protocol promptly. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards.
• Demonstrates expertise in radiation dose reference levels and monitoring. Takes action if the estimated dose exceeds set levels, including patient follow-up.
• Properly uses iSTAT point-of-care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
• Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs and ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport and communicates clearly with patients and families.
• Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam. Prepares the patient and area for the procedure, positions the patient, uses immobilization devices, and moves equipment into position with appropriate settings and exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
• Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management and assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
• Ensures safety by screening individuals according to approved policies and procedures.
• Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems according to department policies.

• Able to take call, if required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an Accredited Program
• Experience: No experience required
• Certification/License/Registration:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT), unless the role is MRI or Ultrasound.
  • Certification in two imaging modalities by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Works 50% of the time in the second modality. Approved modalities include:
    • ARRT-R, ARRT-CT, ARRT-CV, ARRT-M, ARRT-MR, ARRT-N, ARRT-S, ARRT-VI, ARRT-BS, ARRT-BD, ARRT-CI, RDMS-AB, RDMS-BR, RDMS-FE, RDMS-OB, RDMS-PS, RVT, CNMT, or ARMRIT.
  • ARRT-CI Cardiac-Interventional (ARRT-CI), ARRT-CV Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (ARRT-CV).
