Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) - Sports

About the role

Dayton 24/7 Now is seeking a Sports Multimedia Journalist to lead our sports coverage in Ohio's most passionate sports market. This role requires an individual who is passionate about storytelling and covering a wide range of sports topics.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape the station's sports coverage across multiple platforms including television, digital, streaming, and social media.
• Create enterprise original sports stories that go beyond highlights and scores.
• Develop strong relationships with athletes, coaches, schools, and community leaders.
• Shoot, write, edit, and present compelling sports stories for daily newscasts and special coverage.
• Cover live sporting events, breaking sports news, feature stories, and major community events.
• Promote content for our website and all social media platforms with an audience-first mindset.
• Work closely with news managers and producers to identify unique story opportunities and plan long-term sports coverage.
• Represent the station professionally at community and sporting events.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of multimedia journalism or sports reporting experience preferred.
• Exceptional recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong writing, shooting, and non-linear editing skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting daily deadlines.
• Outstanding news judgment and storytelling abilities.
• Strong on-camera presence and communication skills.
• Leadership qualities with the initiative to own and grow the station's sports brand.
• A passion for finding stories others overlook.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Express, SAGA, Mimir, and Live reporting.
• Experience with digital publishing and content management systems.
