Multimedia & Graphic Design Manager

Primarily responsible for management, creation, and oversight of graphic design efforts across the WVU Foundation, both digital and print, in collaboration with the Design Specialist and under supervision of the Director of Brand and Content Strategy. This role focuses on content management and design for Foundation-maintained websites, print design, HTML email templates, and providing design strategy and oversight for units across WVU and WVU Medicine. A key aspect of the role is understanding donor motivations to ensure design messaging aligns with donor desires and fundraising priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the WVU Foundation’s design creative brief process, providing design strategy and support for event invitations, programs, display boards, AV slides, annual campaigns, annual reports, advertisements, greeting cards, and other print/digital materials.
  • Creates compelling designs in collaboration with Communications, Donor Engagement, and Annual Giving, including donor impact reports, stewardship pieces, campaign prospectuses, digital/print marketing collateral, gift proposals, fundraising materials, email communications, business collateral, branded templates, social media graphics, website graphics, and other Foundation communication materials.
  • Develops visual concepts that effectively communicate fundraising priorities, donor impact, and Foundation initiatives.
  • Ensures all creative work meets quality, accessibility, and production standards while adhering to project deadlines.
  • Assists with production schedules, timelines, and deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensures all design projects follow University and Foundation branding standards.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Brand and Content Strategy to draft and refine web and email content for the Foundation as needed.
  • Designs web graphics and edits photos for wvuf.org.
  • Formats and designs internal and external Foundation documents.
  • Manages the Foundation staff photo directory and maintains a file of stock-like images for print and web communications.
  • Helps maintain the Foundation’s digital media archive, including logos, photos, templates, and fonts.
  • Works with print vendors to provide art packages and ensure accurate printing.
  • Designs internal communications, such as PowerPoint decks, infographics, and processes/procedures.
  • Serves as an expert in branding for the WVU Foundation, WVU, and WVU Medicine.
  • Designs, prepares, and distributes HTML email messages for the WVU Foundation and University units without in-house designers.
  • Remote/hybrid work environment with occasional travel to campus (4-6 times/year).
  • Performs other related projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Five or more years of experience in graphic design or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Fundamental to intermediate knowledge of HTML & CSS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with photo and video shooting/editing is a plus but not required.
