Multimedia Content Specialist (Media Specialist III)
Laurel Ridge Community College is seeking a Multimedia Content Specialist to serve as the primary photographer and videographer, capturing everyday life across our campuses. This hands-on role involves daily documentation of students, faculty, staff, campus energy, and special events to produce fresh photo and video content for social media, marketing campaigns, recruitment efforts, and institutional communications.
About the Role
As the Multimedia Content Specialist, you will produce high-quality photography, video, and multimedia content that advances Laurel Ridge Community College’s marketing, recruitment, and institutional communication goals. You will shoot, edit, and create compelling visual stories tailored to diverse audiences and platforms, maintain the college’s digital media asset library, coordinate with outside contributors and vendors, and ensure all work adheres to brand, accessibility, and copyright standards.
This role requires a camera-in-hand approach, with daily opportunities to capture candid moments, frame perfect shots, and turn raw footage into engaging content. Assignments may include photographing labs, student success stories, portrait sessions, special events, groundbreakings, and college celebrations.
Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality photography and video content for social media, marketing campaigns, recruitment, and institutional communications.
- Shoot, edit, and create compelling visual stories using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Maintain the college’s digital media asset library, ensuring organization and accessibility.
- Coordinate with external contributors and vendors for multimedia projects.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and copyright laws.
- Create short-form video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Work occasional evenings and weekends to cover events, photo shoots, and special projects.
- Travel to various college sites and campuses as needed for assignments.
Requirements
- Proven subject matter knowledge in photography, videography, multimedia production, and digital communications, demonstrated through training, experience, or credentials.
- Experience with photography and video production equipment, lighting, audio recording, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Ability to create compelling visual content tailored to multiple audiences and digital platforms.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and maintain digital asset libraries.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration across departments and with external partners.
- Knowledge of branding, accessibility, and copyright considerations in multimedia and digital communications.
- Experience creating short-form video content for social media platforms.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and special projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for higher education marketing and audience engagement.
- Experience managing multimedia needs for a college, university, nonprofit, or public-sector organization.
- Familiarity with content management systems, project management platforms, and marketing automation tools.
Pay
The hiring range for this position is $54,711.00–$73,859.00.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional nights and weekends required for events and photo/video coverage. The schedule varies weekly based on college events and assignments.
