SUMMARY

This position is to cover for a Multilingual (ESL) Teacher from approximately February 23 to April 3, 2026 for grades K-5.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs teachers' class plan while the teacher is out.
  • Assumes all other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent.
  • Prepares lesson plans with assistance, as directed by an administrator.
  • Maintains appropriate records including checking test papers, recording grades, student assignments for homework, projects, and the necessary clerical work required to maintain student records for a teacher who is absent.
  • Provides for individualized and small group assistance for students as indicated by lesson plans.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises students and oversees teacher's assistance for instruction purposes.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education.
  • Communication and Language Skills: Ability to read and analyze a wide variety of material, write in an understandable and concise manner, and effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts of mathematics as required for the grade level being taught.
  • Analytical and Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Physical Attributes: The employee must regularly stand and walk, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally push and/or move up to 10 pounds such as a TV/VCR cart. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must continuously interact with the public and other staff and occasionally meet multiple demands from several people.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

  • Must possess and maintain or be eligible for a current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license to teach.
  • When fulfilling a long-term substitute assignment over 45 days, must possess a current valid license in the specific area they are substituting for.
