About the Role

The Assistant Superintendent (AS) assists the Project Superintendent in managing day-to-day construction activities, including inspections, subcontractor supervision, quality control, jobsite safety, paperwork, and cleanliness. The AS reports directly to the Project Superintendent and Project Manager and works closely with jobsite staff, main office staff, vendors, clients, and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Keep job sites clean and machines serviced.
  • Maintain all company tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate and communicate daily with subcontractors and vendors as directed by the Superintendent.
  • Ensure project documentation and reports (e.g., RFIs, daily reports, punchlists) are complete.
  • Prepare general jobsite safety inspections and related inspections.
  • Track, organize, and maintain jobsite plans and associated addendums.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Report all project delays to the Superintendent.
  • Verify all work is installed to a high workmanship level, meeting plans, specifications, and codes.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the construction site to monitor compliance with building and safety codes.
  • Understand and study job specifications and plans to perform duties effectively.
  • Schedule trades with supervision of the Superintendent.
  • Attend all necessary jobsite meetings, whether onsite or offsite.
  • Assist with the closeout of the project.
  • Organize and maintain jobsite files.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in construction science, engineering, architecture, or other related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in multi-family, wood framing, structural concrete, and construction projects.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret plans (Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Civil).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with structural concrete, type V and III wood-framed buildings, and MEP building systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards.
  • Good client management and goodwill-building ability.
  • Capacity to motivate, lead, and boost team morale.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Ability to handle pressure and maintain a strong focus on quality.
  • Recent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and MS Project.
  • Knowledge and experience in Prolog or similar Project Management Software is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain company confidentiality.

This is an exempt position located at the construction jobsite trailer or main offices, depending on company needs.
