Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise all regional construction personnel and activity
  • Ensure all construction is performed according to code, drawings, contracted scope & specifications
  • Aid in recruiting, hiring, training and retention of project management and field personnel
  • Mitigate cost risk by providing estimates during land acquisition due diligence and pre-construction
  • Review drawings to optimize design and suggest value engineering opportunities
  • Advises Project Managers in bidding, buy-out, and subcontractor selections
  • Collaborates with Purchasing for optimal approach to estimating, bidding, buy-out to maximize profit
  • Oversees Project Managers in ongoing budget maintenance including formal monthly budget review
  • Advise Project Managers regarding supplementing or replacing non-performing subcontractors
  • Interacts with Scheduling Team and Project Managers to create reasonable and accurate baseline schedules, then monitor and drive performance to minimize construction timelines
  • Visits construction sites regularly to evaluate overall construction performance
  • Ensures compliance with expectations on Quality Control, Safety, SWPPP, and FHA/ADA guidelines
  • Ensures smooth and timely turn-over of units and amenities to Property Management
  • Evaluates and approves change orders as needed
  • Handles escalated issues in design, field execution, and subcontractor performance
  • Defines contract scopes to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Supervises 2 or more employees

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Seven years or more of related construction experience
  • Must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Possess basic knowledge of budgeting and financial matters
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Administration or related field
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills by using persistence and ability to overcome obstacles
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
