About the role

The Multi-Facility Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for leading infection prevention and zero harm initiatives across assigned Ballad facilities, contributing to world-class patient care. This role works closely with the AVP of Infection Prevention to set direction for infection prevention strategies and collaborates with facility leadership to develop individual facility plans.

Responsibilities

  • Set direction for infection prevention and patient safety through strategic planning and collaboration with facility leadership
  • Participate in the development and management of multiple budgets and coordination of department resources
  • Design, manage, and improve infection prevention surveillance and data reporting processes
  • Create and deploy a corporate operational plan for Infection Prevention aligned with Ballad's quality and patient safety goals
  • Align IP plans with Ballad's High Reliability Organization (HRO) journey and zero harm objectives
  • Hire, train, retain, and develop managers and team members dedicated to Infection Prevention
  • Manage regional and system-wide improvement projects, including collaborative projects and new process design
  • Lead identification and implementation of best practices across Ballad facilities
  • Improve work processes to reduce infections and ensure adherence to regulatory and accrediting guidelines
  • Act as a public subject matter expert, participating in media events and other public engagements
  • Maintain healthy work relationships with all facility leaders, team members, medical staff, and support leadership
  • Identify and address education and training needs of the Ballad workforce, designing and delivering relevant training programs
  • Maintain up-to-date infection prevention procedures, including their design, documentation, control, and maintenance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum five years of experience in a clinical setting
  • Successful management of priorities, multiple projects, and deadlines
  • Computer and Internet skills, including proficiency with MS Office products
  • Data collection and analysis, process audit/compliance review experience
  • Experience with database data entry and/or management, and familiarity with statistical concepts, quality improvement, and patient safety
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with all members of the facility team and administrative staff
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Valid and active RN licensure in appropriate state
    • Certification in Infection Control strongly encouraged; required within one year of acquiring the position
