About the role
The Multicraft technician maintains, repairs, designs and calibrates building systems, plant equipment, electronic and computer-based devices. They rebuild, install and program process control equipment, design, program and configure data management systems, and install, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade electronic computer-controlled mechanical systems, such as robotic machines.
Responsibilities
- Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position.
- Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations.
- Identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper production operation.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.
- Follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, conform to regulatory requirements and assure Food Safety measures are followed.
- Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Log all work into the Work Order system with accurate documentation of time and location.
- Maintain updated programs of all Logic and Motion Controllers, working with contractors and other technicians.
- Create new programs and patterns to meet customer requirements.
- Work with Engineering and IS Team to keep all programmable software updated and add new software as technology advances.
- Maintain, repair, design and calibrate electronic devices: rebuild and install electronic equipment.
- Ensure up-time of equipment by performing preventive maintenance and repairs on plant equipment.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment in area of assignment (includes maintaining equipment, safety devices and proper safety procedures).
- Modify programs as necessary for production and energy-efficient processes.
- Responsible for completing all necessary electronic PM’s, Work Orders and parts usage using the eAM system.
- Responsible for the housekeeping in area of assignment in production and maintenance departments.
- Other duties as assigned by TA/TL.
Requirements
- Three years’ experience in an Industrial maintenance setting.
- Experience in installation and electronic troubleshooting of process loops and programming to include computer-controlled robotics equipment.
- Advanced PLC programming skills – with emphasis in Allen Bradley – Panelview, Data Highway Plus, PLC and Control View.
- Knowledge of PLC control/program design with focus on troubleshooting techniques, programming and integration skills.
- Knowledge of interfaces to graphic display systems or Data Highway Plus, and interfaces between robotics and other computer-based PLC industrial processes and controls.
- Ability to use PLC’s and GML for troubleshooting purposes.
- A working knowledge in operating and maintaining volt-ohm meter, oscilloscope, chart recorder and miscellaneous shop equipment.
- Fanuc robot and Fanuc integrated vision system (iRVision) programming experience preferred.
- Ability to operate air compressor.
- Basic Mechanical Skills Required.
- Ability to weld stainless steel (TIG).
- Ability to develop an excellent working relationship with fellow partners and with other plant departments.
- Ability to test run equipment in all production and production support departments.
- Must walk or stand 75% of time to include working off of ladder or lying on floor to access equipment components.
- Ability to operate power material handling equipment.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to use computer aided drafting hardware and software as required to develop electrical sketches and drawings.
- Ability to perform trouble-shooting on heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
- Must be able to work around ammonia systems, acid systems, steam systems, high voltage, and know the safeguards against being accidentally exposed to fumes, live steam, and/or electrical shock.
- Must know basic electricity and electronics including three-phase and single-phase controls, ladder diagrams, low-voltage relay logic, digital and analog electronics, microprocessors, single line diagrams, electrical schematics and power distributions.
- The ability to communicate with leadership, vendors, contractors, other maintenance partners, line operators via phone, fax, email, text, and person-to-person.
- Overtime can be expected if the workload requires it.
- Scheduling will be performed in accordance to plant scheduling policy.
- The position will require continuous advancement of technical knowledge and skills.
- Applicants must demonstrate success in training courses, and will be expected to actively participate in assigned or elected training courses to refresh fundamental skills and match technology needs within the company.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
