MTC - Journeyman III (General Mechanic)

About the role

The Journeyman III - General Mechanic position involves working alongside journeymen-level mechanical maintenance technicians in routine maintenance tasks and performing many duties independently. The position also includes hands-on experiences and classroom instruction through the Global Manufacturing Training program.

Responsibilities

• Install and align machine and equipment according to lay-out plans, blueprints, and other drawings.
• Fit and assemble parts to fabricate or repair industrial machines.
• Read and interpret welding blueprints, select appropriate welding processes and materials, and operate welding equipment safely.
• Perform various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick Welding) and ensure proper joint preparation and weld quality and integrity.
• Assemble and install pipes, valves, and conduct pressure testing to ensure integrity.
• Conduct field measurements and installations as needed.
• Perform aligning of machines and field machining.
• Operate cranes, tow motors, and forklifts.
• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings; perform welding or brazing as needed.
• Assemble and install pipes, valves, and conduct pressure testing to ensure integrity.
• Understand specifications and regulations related to plumbing and piping systems.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Eligible for employment in the US.
• At least three (3) years of work experience in any two of the following mechanical disciplines: Millwright, Machinist, Welding, or Pipefitting.
• Willingness to meet the following requirements: work in industrial conditions, undergo technical online testing, interview, and a formal hands-on assessment of skills, undergo a drug screen, undergo a job-related health assessment, submit to periodic drug screens, work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule, work overtime on a regular basis and with last-minute notification, work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis, wear required safety equipment.

Skills

• Associates degree or certification in Millwright, Machinist, Welding, or Pipefitting.
• Five (5) years of work experience in any two of the following mechanical disciplines: Millwright, Machinist, Welding, or Pipefitting.
• Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
