Responsibilities

• Obtain specimens from patients in accordance with hospital policy.
• Perform analysis and report test results within department standards and hospital policies and procedures.
• Note and document test results, retesting any procedures that fall out of acceptable range.
• Ensure adequate supplies are available to complete anticipated volume of tests.
• Follow safety and infection control policies of the laboratory and all other hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Conduct instrument preventive maintenance as required by Departmental policies and procedures on all equipment, as directed by departmental section head.
• Document and perform all quality control as a routine part of general testing.
• Participate in proficiency testing as designed by section head in assigned area.
• Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills.
• Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
• Participate in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized laboratory technology program.
• Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory techniques.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic computer skills.

• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in laboratory equipment and techniques.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.
