MSN Acute Care NP (Adjunct)

About the Role

Faculty members educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications. This includes grading assignments, participating in discussions, responding to student emails, and using technology designed to enhance the learning experience in an environment that is respectful of the student, the faculty member, Walden University, and the discipline.

Training

All new faculty members receive specific training in:

• Techniques of online teaching
• Use of an electronic learning platform
• Policies, procedures, and degree programs of the School or College
• Socialization into the Walden University culture
• Assessment of academic integrity of student work
• Research supervision of theses and dissertations

Teaching and mentorship assignments are contingent upon successful completion of required training. During the first term of teaching, faculty members may be assigned a faculty peer mentor for additional support and peer reviews of the classroom.

Course/Teaching Availability

• Faculty members are assigned courses taught using Canvas and are responsible for interacting with students within this platform.
• Discussion Boards for classrooms are open 24 hrs/day, 7 days/wk.
• Faculty members are expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days/wk, with responses to student questions posted within 48 hrs.
• The university suggests regular and predictable availability, such as online office hours or regular online chats, which may be required based on program or college policy.

Requirements

• DNP required
• AGACNP certification required
• 1+ years of teaching experience (preferred)
• 1+ years of online or technology-enabled instruction experience (preferred)
• At least 1 year of current practice experience as an AGACNP
• RN and APRN License in at least one of the 50 states (required)
• Willingness to acquire a Minnesota RN and APRN license (required for teaching in the MSN NP program)

Skills

• Adequate computer setup to handle an electronic learning platform, including keyboard, pointing device, and monitor
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
• Reliable Internet access with alternate access options
• Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of Pediatrics
• Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students in a distance learning environment
• Experience with teaching, advising, and mentoring
• Commitment to the promotion of applied research and recruitment/development of a diverse faculty
• Excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
• Experience with distance learning (preferred)

Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or one recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible for specific programs. They must maintain their licenses, certifications, and currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations. If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University.

Pay

• Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
• Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course

Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught, experience, training, geographic location, licensure, certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility. Additional opportunities, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and mentoring, may also be available.
