MSIM - Portfolio Specialist, Fixed Income - Senior Associate
About the role
The Fixed Income Portfolio Specialist will be responsible for servicing existing clients and driving commercialization of the institutional Global Multi-sector business. The Portfolio Specialist will be expected to be the ambassador for the products in their charge, serving as a technically versed extension of the investment team and liaising between the team, Sales and their clients, consultants and other parts of the organization.
Successful candidates will be entrepreneurial and have the ability to adapt as the business grows. The team is open to the candidate sitting in the New York or Boston office locations.
Responsibilities
- Lead efforts in servicing existing clients, requests for new client opportunities (e.g., RFPs), and acting as liaison with internal departments for client support and management
- Proactively engage with Sales, Consultant Relations, and Marketing to keep clients informed and help raise net new cash
- Work alongside the investment teams to understand the investment outlook and investment rationale behind portfolio positioning, communicate investment outlook to existing and potential clients
- Represent the investment team with current and prospective clients
- Produce high quality written communication material for use by internal and external constituents
- Lead the production of presentation and marketing material for use in client reviews and pitches
- Develop and maintain credible, compelling and timely product communications
- Identify the important messages to present a simple and effective global narrative, working with all of the fixed income investment teams
- Support and train other members of the portfolio specialist team
- Lead product development initiatives
- Lead internal product training sessions
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree
- Knowledge of the fixed income markets and an appetite to broaden and apply this expertise
- More than five years of experience in the fixed income industry, preferably working with institutional clients
- Proven project management skills
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. An ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages would be an advantage
- Experience of working with cross-functional teams as well as with business development contacts, prospects, consultants and clients
- Exceptionally self-motivated and entrepreneurial
- A high level of initiative that matches the Firm’s commitment to retaining existing clients and securing new clients
- A high degree of dependability and attention to detail
- Able to prioritize a multitude of tasks successfully, while maintaining high quality
- Skilled in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Familiarity with tools such as Bloomberg

Pay
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
