MS Learning Specialist, Resource Rm, (.5 FTE), Perm

This part-time (.5 FTE), permanent position is anticipated to work every other day of the middle school schedule for the 2026-2027 school year. A Special Education endorsement is required.

About the Role

The Learning Specialist is primarily responsible for effective teaching and learning of assigned subjects following district-approved curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. This role may teach in various educational settings, including but not limited to:

• Life skills (Structured Learning Center - Academics)
• Behavior development (Structured Learning Center - Behavior)
• Communications
• Learning Resource/Support

Primary responsibilities include ensuring student safety and fostering an environment conducive to learning through appropriate collaboration, guidance, discipline, and attention to each student's readiness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assess student special needs and translate them into effective instructional plans.
• Communicate individual development plans and coach/support staff and colleagues in implementing their responsibilities under the plan.
• Effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally and in writing.
• Collaborate and work within a professional learning community.
• Manage classrooms and maintain acceptable student behavior.
• Apply appropriate and multiple assessment, instruction, and evaluation techniques.
• Apply knowledge of child and adolescent development to curriculum selection and instructional practices.
• Use culturally responsive teaching and learning strategies.

Requirements

• Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Oregon Teaching License with a Special Education: Generalist endorsement.
• Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university.
• Experience working successfully with culturally diverse families and communities, or demonstrated commitment to engaging diverse communities and skill in communicating with diverse populations.
• Successful teaching experience or demonstrated potential to teach effectively in a special education environment.
• Knowledge and skill in applying IDEA requirements and procedures.
• Analytical and diagnostic skills to assess student needs.

North Clackamas School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP). The district contributes the employer portion, and employees contribute a mandatory 6% via payroll deduction upon eligibility (working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position). Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Pay

Annual Salary Range (2025-2026): $58,788 - $111,463 for a 1.0 FTE (193-Day Contract). This position's salary is prorated based on .5 FTE and start date.

• Extended Responsibilities Special Education Stipend: approximately $5,673 (prorated based on FTE and start/end dates).
• Additional stipends available:
  • $2,500 for certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).
  • $3,000 for holding a PhD or EdD.
