As a Middle School Language Arts Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment conducive to student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
• Creates purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide real-world, application-based learning opportunities.
• Reviews student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintains accurate and complete student records.
• Maximizes educational achievement for each student through differentiated instruction and a variety of learning modalities.
• Uses frequent diagnostic assessments to evaluate student learning, provides appropriate activities to address needs, and generates progress reports as required.
• Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
• Coordinates class field trips as required.
• Prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stays current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; shares this knowledge to improve the school’s curriculum.
• Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including updating written courses of study.
• Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Becomes familiar with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of regular classroom activities.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Maintains positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support growth.
• Ensures the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
• Implements relevant policies governing student conduct and develops reasonable classroom/playground behavior rules in accordance with CSUSA policy.
• Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and participates in curriculum planning with other staff members.
• Incorporates diagnostic information from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into instructional planning.
• Takes necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities for effective instruction.
• Strives to establish cooperative relations and communicates clearly and positively with parents/guardians via appropriate mediums.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding student records and cooperates with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
• Participates in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Strong command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
• Understanding of and commitment to company values.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.

Work Environment

• Usual school working conditions; may be noisy during high student traffic.
• Light physical work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
• Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
