Responsibilities
- Affirms findings and results from exams performed on an ongoing basis.
- Assists leadership in collecting departmental CQI, Radiologist CQI, and ACR data within the appropriate timeframe.
- Operates all types of departmental equipment and performs MRI procedures, considering patient factors such as age, physical, mental, and emotional conditions.
- Notifies leadership of equipment malfunctions and initiates necessary service calls, documenting these incidents.
- Assists with orientation and training of technologists on proper equipment use and new procedures.
- Guides and directs employees to maintain optimal service levels to patients and other customers, coordinating with radiologists or physicians for supply needs.
- Assists physicians with biopsies and other invasive procedures, adhering to sterile techniques.
- Reviews and correlates patient exam orders with medical history and prior exam records to ensure appropriate procedures are conducted.
- Verifies the accurate transfer of images and exam information through PACS and RIS for radiologist interpretation and billing purposes.
- Maintains magnet and radio-frequency safety for all patients and visitors.
- Administers contrast materials according to departmental policies.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.
- No previous MRI experience required; radiology, CT, or MRI experience preferred.
- Certification by ARRT, ARMIT, or Radiology Certificate program required, with MRI certification within one year of employment if not already obtained.
