Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina – Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, MRI Department

Shift: Weekends

Summary

Performs all MRI routine procedures for the diagnostic treatment of specified diseases or conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all routine procedures designated within the MRI Section of Radiology Department.
  • Demonstrate competency and efficiency in the treatment, care of, and interaction with patients of all ages, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Assess and clear patients for MRI safety.
  • Review physician orders or patient charts for appropriate order, diagnosis, and physician signature.
  • Confirm the signed Patient MRI Interview Form.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, answer questions, or refer questions to the assigned radiologist.
  • Begin and end procedures in the computer system to ensure proper billing and maintain department productivity.
  • Provide a safe environment, adhering to magnetic field exposure, infection control guidelines, and Universal Precautions.
  • Maintain good guest relations with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and medical staff using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank you).
  • Monitor quality of care based on ongoing assessments to strive for continuous quality improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • ARRT Registered required, or graduate from an Associate in Applied Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Any applicant not registered as an ARRT in MRI must provide documentation of application with the ARRT to sit for the MRI registry.
  • Registered in MRI with the ARRT is required within one (1) year of hiring. Failure to achieve registration will result in termination.
  • 1-2 years of work experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.
  • Knowledge of growth and development and the range of treatment needed for all age groups.

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility to assume awkward positions and respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. and carry objects up to 50 lbs., including bending.
  • May involve skin, eye, or mucous membrane contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.

Licenses and Certifications

  • ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (required).
