Responsibilities

  • Complete scans effectively and efficiently
  • Collect pertinent data about the patient and the procedure
  • Select the most appropriate, cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition
  • Screen the patient for ferrous and RF-sensitive material before the patient enters the magnetic field
  • Position and prepare patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures
  • Select appropriate immobilization devices
  • Review the patient’s chart and the physician’s request to determine optimal scanning parameters for the suspected pathology
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Enter necessary patient information to initiate the scan(s)
  • Assess and monitor the patient’s physical and mental status throughout the procedure
  • Review images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure
  • Document diagnostic, treatment and patient data in the appropriate record. Documentation must be timely, accurate, concise and complete
  • Archive images to data storage devices according to established guidelines
  • Maintain the highest standards of patient care possible
  • Implement and maintain the MedQuest Best Customer Service Program
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique
  • Exhibit a high level of technical competence and clinical judgment
  • Ensure that the required supplies and equipment are available
  • Check all equipment routinely and perform preventive maintenance when necessary
  • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, peers and all members of the healthcare team
  • Maintain a safe environment by monitoring cryogens
  • Ensure the Center’s compliance with MedQuest Policy procedures, OSHA, local, state and Federal regulatory requirements
  • Follow radiation protection guidelines
  • Participate in formal training and service programs
  • Ensure that deadlines are met with regards to reports
  • Perform quality assurance activities based on established quality protocols
  • Document quality assurance activities and results
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to medical records and other data

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
  • ARRT registered with advanced registry in MR
  • Must complete required CEU’s in a timely manner to ensure Certification remains active
  • Active state licensure, where applicable
  • CPR Certification is required
  • Prior Experience: 0+ years of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, required
  • 2+ years of experience as an MRI Technologist, preferred
  • IV skills required
  • Knowledge of MRI procedures and standards
  • Demonstrate adequate knowledge of anatomy
  • Skill in operation of MRI equipment
  • Customer service background and focus
