Responsibilities
- Complete scans effectively and efficiently
- Collect pertinent data about the patient and the procedure
- Select the most appropriate, cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition
- Screen the patient for ferrous and RF-sensitive material before the patient enters the magnetic field
- Position and prepare patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures
- Select appropriate immobilization devices
- Review the patient’s chart and the physician’s request to determine optimal scanning parameters for the suspected pathology
- Prepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Enter necessary patient information to initiate the scan(s)
- Assess and monitor the patient’s physical and mental status throughout the procedure
- Review images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure
- Document diagnostic, treatment and patient data in the appropriate record. Documentation must be timely, accurate, concise and complete
- Archive images to data storage devices according to established guidelines
- Maintain the highest standards of patient care possible
- Implement and maintain the MedQuest Best Customer Service Program
- Provide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique
- Exhibit a high level of technical competence and clinical judgment
- Ensure that the required supplies and equipment are available
- Check all equipment routinely and perform preventive maintenance when necessary
- Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, peers and all members of the healthcare team
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring cryogens
- Ensure the Center’s compliance with MedQuest Policy procedures, OSHA, local, state and Federal regulatory requirements
- Follow radiation protection guidelines
- Participate in formal training and service programs
- Ensure that deadlines are met with regards to reports
- Perform quality assurance activities based on established quality protocols
- Document quality assurance activities and results
- Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to medical records and other data
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
- ARRT registered with advanced registry in MR
- Must complete required CEU’s in a timely manner to ensure Certification remains active
- Active state licensure, where applicable
- CPR Certification is required
- Prior Experience: 0+ years of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, required
- 2+ years of experience as an MRI Technologist, preferred
- IV skills required
- Knowledge of MRI procedures and standards
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of anatomy
- Skill in operation of MRI equipment
- Customer service background and focus
