As an MRI Tech I, you will provide prompt, efficient, and courteous services to patients while delivering high-quality radiographs under the leadership of the Supervisor of Medical Imaging and direction of the Radiology Manager.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care.
• Assess patient data and interpret information to identify patient requirements and provide necessary care.
• Provide high-quality test results promptly and accurately.
• Comply with the job description of the Diagnostic X-ray Technologist II as needed.
• Verify patient information (e.g., exam orders and lab work).
• Properly position and comfort patients during imaging.
• Image patients according to approved MRI protocols.
• Review images and send them to PACS for interpretation.
• Close exams in EPIC/PACS.
• Prepare, identify, and/or administer medication as prescribed by a licensed practitioner when applicable.
• Transport patients to and from the room as required.
• Ensure a safe environment for patients.
• Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns.
• Screen patients by reviewing medical history.
• Perform a clinical pause before starting each exam.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms before and after patient use.
• Maintain adequate inventory levels in diagnostic radiology rooms and restock supplies as directed.
• Clean and organize the CT scan room after patient use.
• Complete daily checklists for safe patient care and regulatory readiness.
• Pursue professional growth through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
• Maintain competence through continuing education and appropriate credits to uphold licensure.
• Attend necessary meetings to stay updated on departmental changes (90-95% attendance at monthly department meetings).
• Perform similar or related duties as requested or directed.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA-approved school.
• Clinical experience within radiology preferred; new graduates welcome.

Qualifications

• NYS Temporary Permit/License required within 180 days of hire.
• ARRT Registered as a Radiologic Technologist required within 180 days of hire.
• NYS Registered as a Radiologic Technologist required within 180 days of hire.
• BLS Certification required.
• ARRT MRI Certification required within 2 years of hire or job role (career ladder promotion).

Physical Requirements

• Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly to move objects.
• Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and stooping.
• Occasional fit testing.
• Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), and walking.
• Constant typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, and seeing/monitor/computer use.

Hazards

• Frequent exposure to bodily fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
• Exposure to radiation/radiant energy.

Working Conditions

• Occasional noise.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Pay

Salary is based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and industry standards. The pay range for this position is:

Minimum: $41.39/hour
Maximum: $62.71/hour
