About the role
The Radiology Technologist Supervisor-Specialist Team provides day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area, ensuring that all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed by qualified and competent staff, are of the highest quality achievable, and follow radiation safety principles. This position works directly with lead technologists and front-line staff to solve problems and reduce barriers to success.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies and procedures
- Implement new initiatives, programs, and policies
- Collaborate with other Radiology Supervisors, Managers, Faculty, and staff to ensure departmental safety, quality, and teamwork
- Supervise, oversee, maintain, and improve business functions and processes related to assigned areas of responsibility
- Develop staff education and competencies, including educational materials and competency forms
- Provide education to assigned teams, students, residents, and other learners
- Maintain technical competency in all areas of responsibility
Requirements
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) required for Diagnostic Supervisor
- One of the following specialty registries: ARRT in Mammography for Breast Imaging Supervisor, ARRT CT for CT Supervisor, ARRT MRI for MRI Supervisor, ARRT CV or VIR for Interventional Supervisor, ARRT CT or MRI required for 3D lab supervisor, (CI) Cardiac Interventional Radiography, (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
- Minimum of two (2) years of Lead Tech or equivalent Diagnostic Radiology experience
- Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology that is recognized by the ARRT
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience preferred
- Experience performing in a leadership role preferred
- Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Radiation Science, Business, or closely related field from an accredited program strongly preferred
- Master's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited program preferred

Pay and Schedule
Hours: 7:00AM - 4:30PM. Weekend and other after-hours coverage may be required based on workload demand and teaming needs.
