About the role
Reporting directly to the MRI Modality Manager, this role assists with daily department operations and serves as the key contact point for research, ACR accreditation, scanner/injector protocols, department education, and QA. The position involves interacting with radiology and nursing staff, physicians, patients and visitors for issue resolution, customer service, performance improvement and multi-level communication. You will work with radiologists, physicists and others to explore, develop and test new procedures, guidelines and protocols, and mentor residents and new medical personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced diagnostic MRI procedures
- Recommend changes and improvements to MRI protocols and processes
- Assist in the consolidation and unification of scanning protocols throughout Froedtert Health
- Precept MRI Tech I & II and serve as an EPIC Superuser
- Provide meaningful feedback and education to technologists and other staff
- Collaborate with leaders, radiologists, technologists, and vendors
- Support regulatory and quality initiatives, including ACR accreditation and protocol development
- Take initiative to solve problems independently and improve processes
Requirements
- Three years minimum experience as an MRI Technologist
- Successful completion of a 2-year Rad Tech program in an AMA-approved school
- 1–2 years post-secondary education in a related clinical, technical or business field
- ARRT Certification in Radiologic Technology and ARRT Certification in Magnetic Resonance
- BCLS certified within 3 months of hire
Training
- Cross-sectional anatomy class
- On-the-job training in new/advanced procedures
- Inservice instruction to advanced OJT
- Advanced EPIC and PACS training
- Formal preceptor training/credentialing
Skills
- Strong communication and teaching ability across multiple audience learning levels
- Computer and programming skills
- Ability to relate to diverse groups with varying cognitive skills
- EPIC/PACS Superuser and preceptor experience
Schedule
M–F, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; day off TBD; 0.80 FTE (32 standard hours). On-site position at CDI-WAUWATOSA.
