MRI/CT Technologist Full Time

This multimodality position is accountable for performing quality MRI and CT Imaging through the application of advanced technical knowledge while maintaining strict attention to patient care. This role provides expertise for all ages from neonatal/newborn to adults, with patient acuity ranging from stable outpatients to critically ill patients on full life support.

Responsibilities

  • Know and demonstrate proficiency of all MRI and CT examinations.
  • Maintain the safety of the MRI and CT suite in conjunction with patients and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Evaluate examination orders for pertinent clinical information and assess patient needs and exam requirements in conjunction with the radiologist.
  • Recognize emergent patient conditions.
  • Coordinate critical patient transport with appropriate nursing personnel as applicable.
  • Collaborate with Patient Services and anesthesia as needed.
  • Work independently.

  • Provide appropriate information and instruction to patients and families.
  • Demonstrate competency and proficiency in performing all MRI and CT procedures as identified in the MRI/CT Tech competency.
  • Identify anatomical orientation, sequencing of images, and verify accurate patient identification of images for record retention and archiving.
  • Accurately assess, select, prepare, and administer contrast materials to patients according to best clinical practices.
  • Demonstrate competency and efficiency in safety in the MRI and CT suite.
  • Assess patient condition and preserve patient safety through proper use of immobilization devices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility-related information.
  • Store supplies and equipment necessary for patient care in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrate correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff according to facility policies.
  • Use computer systems to document patient information accurately and correctly.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer terminology and applications, including PACS systems.
  • Verify accurate charge capture for procedures performed.
  • Accurately transcribe physician orders and facilitate correcting mistakes or unclear orders with appropriate personnel.
  • Report all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other facility employees.
  • Assist in identifying appropriate indicators for the department’s Quality Improvement programs.
  • Discuss difficult cases with radiologists to reduce the number of patient callbacks.
  • Initiate occurrence reports when problems are identified.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT required.
  • MRI and/or CT certification preferred.
  • State registration if required by respective state.
  • BLS Certified.
  • 2-3 years of MRI experience.
  • Possess a level of clinical expertise and competency in cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Venipuncture skills required.
  • Ability to handle critical care situations which can create a high level of stress.
  • Willingness to cross-train into X-ray.
