MPI Machine Operator I

About the role

McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI) is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our Job Shop Fabrication and Machining operation.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring personal and team safety
• Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
• Using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Cleaning assigned work area and maintaining a clean work environment
• Promoting McWane Way principles
• Fulfilling processes and procedures related to the Clear Water Safety Management Program
• Identifying fabrication requirements for each piece of pipe
• Placing pipe in machine, centering it, tightening, and machining tapered threads into the pipe
• Testing flange fit after machining and applying glue to pipe and flange
• Operating machines and crane to move pipe in and out of machining centers
• For Threaders: removing pipe from machine and moving to next operation
• For Lathes: running cutting tool across the surface of the flange to flush fit the flange onto the pipe
• Working with pipe and flanges primarily from 3" to 6" in diameter and lengths from 4 inches to 18 feet long
• Maintaining proficiency with quality and meeting production output objectives
• Having good math skills, reading a tape measure and micrometer, understanding machinery processes, consistent attendance, ability to get to work on time, willingness to work overtime, and ability to work in various environments

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience with machinery

Skills

• Ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently
• Good math skills
• Understanding of machinery processes
• Physical stamina to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Knowledge of industrial tools and their maintenance
• Ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification
